Earlie Chester Peterson Archive

A fascinating collection, and proof that not every family archive holds happy memories. These 30 vintage gelatin silver prints are all images of one Earlie Chester Peterson, whose son, Leon, systematically defaced each one, scratching Earlie out of every image (per the inscription on one of the prints). I think we can all relate to wanting that one certain somebody excised from our memory banks, but taken as a whole this is both a sad and somewhat emboldening testament to the power of photographs to influence our lives for good as well as evil.
