Vintage gelatin silver print | 8 x 10 inches

Little is known about Chicago-based photographer Dion A. Stams (1908-1998), who photographed in the 1940s and 50s, except that at one point he collaborated professionally with Hortense O. Stams (1907 - 1999), presumably his wife.

Stams was also a collector of books, ephemera, medals, paintings, currency, artifacts, and photographs - the vast majority of which had a connection to African-American history.
